Anthropic releases Claude Opus 5.5 with lower token prices
Opus 5.5 is available through the Claude Platform, AWS, Google Cloud and Azure. Standard pricing is $4 per million input tokens and $20 per million output tokens, both 20% below Opus 5. Most cybersecurity tasks are rerouted to Opus 4.8 under its safeguards.
Developers can select claude-opus-5-5 through the API, but integrations must accommodate mandatory thinking mode.

Webb detects carbon disulfide in giant exoplanet TOI-6894 b
Researchers identified carbon disulfide alongside methane, water and ammonia during a Webb transit observation. Companion simulations indicate that ultraviolet light breaking apart disulfur drives its formation. The model predicts the compound should be abundant in cool and warm giant planets.
Carbon disulfide provides a tracer for estimating sulfur content in cooler giant atmospheres, complementing sulfur dioxide measurements in hotter planets.
